There is nothing I wouldn't wish more on to my worst enemy than going to the drugstore, uninformed, and having to buy a full face of makeup.
Ok, that's a slight exaggeration. But since some drugstore prices are creeping up into the high-end range (I'm looking at you, $28 foundation and $19 eyeliner!) I try to NEVER buy anything without looking up reviews or scavenging the store for a tester. Because once I bought a Rimmel lip liner that looks like complete shite and I regret that $6 even to this day.
So when my friend Alanna gifted me this beautiful Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz at her Bachelorette party in Florida a few months ago, I didn't know what to expect. I hadn't tried many Pixi eye products aside from the ones here so I was intrigued, and decided to dive right in!
These six silky, coordinated shades can be used together or solo to create a simple daytime look, or transition to a smoky night look. The double-ended sponge applicator allows for fast & fuss-free application.
Swatching this palette was a literal treat. I am beyond pleased with the colour payoff, smooth intensity of pigment and diversity of shades in such a slim and sleek package. These shades are RIGHT up my alley. They frame my green eyes beautifully and stay on all day (with primer). There is not one single dud in the palette either. I am amazed by the bronzy brown, burgundy plum, warm apricot, rich taupe, cool baby pink and bright ivory. Each shade has a pearlescent sheen that glistens on the eyes without any sparkle. Luv.
Products used: PIXI Hydrating Milky Mist, Revlon Candid Foundation/Concealer/Powder, Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz, Pixi Endless Silky Eyeliner, Pixi Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach, Pixi Blush from their Palette Chloette, Avon Liquid Bronzer (medium shade of their new BB cream) and champagne Highlighter Stick, Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and Pixi Liquid Lip in Peony Pink.
FYI: I reviewed the Corrector, eyeliner, ans Natural Brow Duo here!
If you're looking for a drugstore palette under $20 (I think? It isn't on Shoppers Drug Mart online!) I really think you'll love this gem of a shade range from Pixi. It's fun for all ages and will likely last for a long while.
