If you're a beauty lover and hoarder of Shoppers Optimum Points, you need to visit Murale. The store is located at Shops at Don Mills, and they take makeup and skincare shopping to the next level. The vibe is a bit like BlueMercury in the US, with premium products and very educated reps who can help answer any questions or concerns. I can shop online for clothing like it's nobody's business, but for makeup and skin - I'll head in-store. Here are a few of my favourite products that you may not have heard about before, all available at Murale.
HENNE LUXURY LIP TINT - AZALEA $21
Green or “clean” beauty is definitely having a moment right now, so if you're looking for a new tinted balm, Henne fits the bill. This vibrant pink balm in shade Azalea is made with all organic ingredients, it is not tested on animals, and it's made in the USA.HENNE LUXURY LIP TINT - AZALEA $21 |
Winky Lux Glimmer Balm in Silver - $18
I love products like this unicorn-coloured lippie which inject some “fun” back into your daily beauty bag. Its colour-changing formula reacts to your pH and darkens to a hot pink, then eventually stains for a few hours. The fine glitter finish gives your look a bit of pizzazz, and the sleek tube is easy to stash in your pocket for quick touch-ups.Winky Lux Glimmer Balm in Silver - $18 |
KAT BURKI Form Control Marine Collagen Gel $185
The best part about Kat Burki products are the ingredients.
Isn’t that how it should be? Unfortunately, sometimes we get distracted by
pretty packaging and colours, quickly forgetting about what’s inside. This
Marine Collagen serum is a lightweight gel that smells incredibly fresh and soothing. It has the texture of fresh aloe
vera jelly, probably because aloe is one of the main ingredients! Kat Burki does not use any water in her products, so you're guaranteed to be getting maximum effectiveness thanks to the incredible potency in each formula. Though this is an expensive serum, note that you'll have immediate and long-term results: plumped skin, healed blemishes, reduced redness, smoothed lines, and increased firmness overall. I really want to try more from her collection!
FOREO - UFO Smart Mask Treatment Device $245
FOREO is a brand I've loved for years, reviewing their Luna Mini here and the Issa Hybrid toothbrush here. The UFO is their latest device, which you pair with disposable Korean sheet masks (attached onto the round FOREO device) that are applied to the skin in a surprising new way. The 90-second mask treatment applies these unique sheet masks with heating, cooling, and T-Sonic pulsations to really drive the ingredients into your skin. This item is not yet on Beauty Boutique's website, but you can shop the other FOREO devices here.I haven't had the chance to try a UFO, but I'm literally obsessed with my ah-dorable FOREO Luna Play Plus. This small version of my Luna Mini is a round pebble-like silicone brush that helps you wash your face in a clean, gentle and effective manner. Apply your cleanser onto the face and massage around with the Luna Play Mini for 1-2 minutes. I keep this device in my travel bag, since it dries so fast and really amps up my skincare routine after long & nasty flights. Not to mention removing sunscreen, this little helper is a godsend. I think I like my $59 Play Mini more than my Luna Mini because the size is so compact, it gets into the grooves of my face better. The gentle vibrations are amazing for loosening debris and exfoliating sensitive skin. You need to grab one of these.
Filorga is a brand I’ve liked for a long time, especially their serums, which I reviewed here. I was excited to dive into the brand a bit further this year, and their eyelash
serum is a total win.
This lash serum comes with a brush-tip applicator, and the brow side has a rubber mascara brush. The product contains a great amount of serum since it is double-sided, and note that it is the same formula on each end. Though I haven't done a true before-and-after, I can confirm that this growth serum keep my lashes and brows so healthy and nourished. Winter can wreck havoc on skin and hair, which is why we should be moisturizing our eye and brow area constantly - but with the right products. This is definitely a great option for the price, since most eyelash/brow growth serums contain less than half the amount of Optim-Eyes.
Mmmmm, oil! I’ve loved NUXE for a long time, first mentioning the brand back in 2014 in this "How to Moisturize with Oil" post. I'm so chuffed to have this brand-new rich version of NUXE's legendary moisturizing oil to indulge in this winter. I've used the original for years, and even keep a teeny bottle of it in my bag to tame fly-aways and keep my nails looking fresh. This thicker version is
ideal for the wicked, dry weather we’ve had recently. I'ts great for targeted treatment on the heels, elbows and knees too. Get into the routine of applying this product to problem areas after the bath or shower before bed, and you'll see your skin's texture transform in no time.
The Better Skin Co. Better Skin Amaze Balm $48
I'm all about an oil-packed balm to soothe dry skin in the winter. This lemony-fresh cream is very rich, but can still be used on all skin types. Dry skins can use it as a daily moisturizer, combo skins can use it at night, and oily skins can use it as a targeted treatment when healing blemishes, or on problem areas like elbows and knuckles. I adore the cute pink spatula that comes with this product, along with the convenient jar packaging. Keep this in your travel bag as an all-in-one lotion that will heal a scab and calm dry patches very quickly.
Rodial is a very interesting brand, with stunning makeup and high-intensity skincare. Their matte suede lipsticks remind me a
lot of Nudestix, and I was excited to share this taupe shade with my mom - who can rock literally every nude lip around!
I wanted to draw attention to their lip masks, which are such a fabulous beauty treatment. Perfect for plumping up dry lips before a big event, or as part of a pamper evening. VERY IMPORTANT! Note that these biocellulose masks are housed between two thick layers of fabric, one of which I didn't remove in the photo above. The texture should be identical to any other biocellulose material: super thin and jelly, just like second skin.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Exfoliating Peel Spray $52
I vividly remember the first time I tried Juice Beauty, it was at least 10 years ago when I was an avid shopper at Honey Fig, a (now closed) beauty store and salon around Yonge and Sheppard. I tried their iconic green apple enzyme mask, which was so awesome for smoothing out my hormonal breakouts. I have been using their Exfoliating Peel Spray recently, which is a fantastic take on the peeling gels that you'll find from Japanese skincare brands. I'm going to do a review on all of my peeling gels in the future, so keep an eye out for more details on how it works. In the meantime, I've also started to use their Stem Cellular Resurfacing Micro-Exfoliant and the Signal Peptides Firming Serum - both of which rival the Kat Burki collection, with their high concentration of Aloe (and no water as filler) but at a more approachable price point.Lipstick Queen - Nudes and Marble Collection $25-$33
An iconic lippie brand founded by Australian gal Poppy King, Lipstick Queen has such awesome shades like colour-changing green, blue, yellow and purple. Their new "Nothing But The Nudes" collection includes 9 nudes that account for all skin tones. I haven't tried anything from the brand, but I've heard amazing things from my friend Shawna, who has reviewed a ton of their products on her blog!
