Why You Need To Try Kaia Naturals - The Best Natural Deodorant

I have sensitive skin, and my pores/sweat glands never seem to be happy for more than a week at a time. Right when I think something works, a switch flicks and my hair is oily, my skin has little bumps all over and my clothes feel like they're sticking to me with my body lotion acting as glue. Eugh. Kaia Naturals Takesumi Detox Charcoal Underarm Detox Kit ($42) is a product range I looked forward to using every evening, for it's intoxicating natural fragrances and comforting textures (that minty bath soak... ohhhh baby.) The soap bar cleans my skin without stripping, the bath soak is rejuvenating without leaving a residue, and the charcoal deodorant is silky smooth, and works better than you'd believe.

Enter, the star. Charcoal used in skincare is an age-old Japanese secret, sucking up odour-causing bacteria to keep you smelling great all day long. This product is quick, convenient, doesn't leave you feeling sticky, comes in a high-quality container, lasts a long time, and is even available in travel size. No wonder it was included in The Kit's Gym Bag Essentials. My favourite is the rose scent, but I also enjoy the Juicy Bamboo - which could be more unisex, along with Mint Lime.

FAQs

Is it worth the price?

Yes. I had the mini deodorant from my detox kit, $9 which lasted 1 month. The full-size deodorant will probably last at least 4 months, bath soak 3-4 uses, and soap bar - literally a year, since I sometimes forget to use it.

Will you smell like B.O.?

I didn't notice my body going through a "detox" phase during the first month. I did find that if my body was very clean (ie. used the soap, dried off well, applied deodorant thoroughly) I didn't have any negative odour at all. On exceptionally sweaty days, my clothing would develop a slight smell, but my skin did not. Far less than when I use a traditional antiperspirant.

Is the charcoal drying?

No. The formulas include aloe vera and I find the rose deodorant to be soothing, moisturizing and the fragrance does not linger.

This detox kit has lowkey changed my life. I am in love with the sweet spearmint scent of the black soap, which comes strung on a convenient rope and looks very cool in your shower. I'm convinced this soap will last me all year since you only use the smallest bit under your arms to prep your skin and activate the charcoal's power. The deodorant, in a fresh rose scent, feels a bit like antiperspirant but works amazing as deodorant. Literally one of the best deodorants I've tried, but it does even more than that. After epilating my underarms, I don't like using a clogging deodorant since my pores can get irritated and dry. This deodorant stick is cooling and fresh, it is a pretty grey colour and feels soothing on my skin. It dries down quickly and is not sticky at all, it's a bit moisturizing. I may feel slightly wet throughout the day if I'm exercising or nervous, but I'm never noticeably smelly. It's shocking, the times where I think - ya, for sure I'm going to smell... I DON'T! It's amazing. The bath soak is now a holy grail product. Even just a tiny amount of the salts will create a relaxing, fresh ambiance of warm sweet mint which detoxify and soothe sore muscles leaving you ready for bed. I can't wait to continue buying products from Kaia Organics, so excited that they're in Toronto! These kits will make for perfect holiday gifts.
