I've been shopping a lot for functional items lately, hitting up a few of my classic spots, along with some new boutiques along Queen West. Though I still look to fast fashion retailers for reliable pieces that won't break the bank, I'm growing more and more fond of special items that come with a story.

Watch my haul to see all these pieces live!
These simple suede dresses from Fraiche Boutique have been a wardrobe lifesaver. On days when I don't know what to wear, I'll turn to this layered look right here. Over my J. Crew opaque tights I have on the Dex Button-Front Blouse from The Bay.
Yes, American Eagle. It still exists! I did a bit of an online sale-section-splurge after falling for this cream Aerie dress online. It is now sold out, but you can find a similar one here.
The AEO Ahh-Mazingly Soft Long Sleeve Plaid Shirt also saved my life a few times when the spring chill made it feel like the dead of winter. My beloved AEO Tiered Sweater Dress was a surprising favourite, since I bought it in a XXS and it surprisingly fit like a glove. The black version is eyeing me. You'll see how this amazing piece works in my haul linked above.
Another Soft and Sexy winner is the High Neck Tank which I got in Light Blue. Its so light and comfy, perfect for layering or tucking into cutoff shorts.
My Zara Metallic Platform Bluchers are a total hit. Though the quality is pretty poor, you can't go wrong with a Prada-inspired shoe like this. They are so fun to style and very comfy.
Though I'm not really loving H&M right now, this Blue and White Striped Shirt was worthwhile to hold on to after my first (and last) online shop with them. It'll be great to throw over a bikini in the summer.
These Flying Monkey Jeans were a great find for $20 at Fiveoseven Boutique on Queen, when it was having a closing sale. They still have their location on the Danforth though.
The Rayon Blouses from Uniqlo are just fantastic, and at such an affordable price point ($20) you can't go wrong. During my AEO splurge I also picked up some cute Bandanas.
The Zara Ankle Boots with Methacrylate Heels are another unique footwear find, that will bring me right into fall. (When the time comes.) They aren't the most comfy, and they will stain socks black! You could also size down in these.
I haven't taken an insta-worthy photo with these Zara Gingham Trousers with Pompoms just yet, but it's coming. I definitely had to size up in these (S) but they truly are fantastic. With a few quick darts in the waist, they are comfy and so cute. *NOTE: do not run for the bus in these. Your pompoms may get tangled.* true story.
Finally, my Zara Cropped Top with Bow. Love! This is the ideal piece to throw on over a high waisted skirt. I love that the material washes easily and you can customize its shape with the bow. I prefer it tied to the side.
What are you loving this season?
xx
