Berry Stained Lips & Après-Ski Cheeks
Are you in a makeup rut? Sometimes a fresh, new look is just one product away.
That "less is more" motto really comes into play when considering everyday makeup. I find that eyes take the longest in my routine, so playing up the cheeks and lips has been a definite go-to this fall.
First off: I love multitaskers. There's nothing simpler than using one fab product for lips and cheeks, especially since you only need to tote around one product for touchups. Also, you can do all the applying with fingers if you don't have suitable brushes. Watch out though- this deep pigment will stain!
To begin, I did my typical base (mousse foundation, concealer, brows, mascara and a touch of bronzer) then used one of my Joe Fresh cream blushes in the shade "flush". This is the star product! I refuse to believe that these blushes are discontinued, but any remains can be found at your local Loblaws now for super cheap.
I applied my blush using this synthetic brush I found on Ebay. A great option would be the buffing brush from Real Techniques. After a quick swipe from apple to temple, I finished up the look with some of the colour sheered out on my lips using a Quo lip brush.
I initially got inspiration for this look from the beautiful Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 makeup look on Pinterest, seen here. Just last week I was reading an issue of The Kit newspaper, and immediately tore out this section (click to see a photo) on "après-ski cheeks". What a perfect fix for those dull, tired mornings.
If you already have a deep red lipstick, that could work as a perfect dupe for this crimson blush. If you're looking for a comparable compact option, here are my recommendations:
Sephora Collection Cream Blush in Flashy Fuschia
Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 510 Raspberry
Stila Convertible Color in Poppy
Happy makeup-ing!
