BURGUNDY- The Colour of Fall 2012

It shouldn't be a shock to frequent shoppers hearing that the most popular colour for fall is burgundy. Almost every store has cleared out its summer merchandise, leaving lots of space for new fall arrivals! This has to be my favourite time of the year, not only because my birthday is around the corner, but also because fall fashion is absolutely amazing. H&M has an entire range of burgundy pieces, some of which I have happily added to my wardrobe. With the help of my sister's new found burgundy items, we have quite the collection and are so excited to start piecing things together for autumn outfits.
BUT, it's still summer! So instead of dressing up in pants and sweaters and dying of heat exhaustion, here are a few inspirational shots from the most recent F/W runways.

Visiting Alberta: Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede celebrated its 100 year anniversary this year. Named the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", the stampede was definitely an event to remember. It kinda reminded me of Toronto's Exhibition, but about 20x better.

To sum it up in a few words, we watched many amazing shows, experienced the famous rodeo, had some great food, heard fun music, won cool prizes, watched the most intense fireworks ever and sported our cowboy hats with pride...

Nail Art

I've always loved buying nail polish and doing my nails. It started off as a few pink and red shades, and has now turned into a rainbow of colours and textures overflowing from my bathroom drawer. I've really gotten into perfecting my nail art skills in the past few years, and I'm definitely known for my intense easter themed nails. While looking through my photo library, I've decided to share some of my most favourite nail looks from the past two or three years. Expect some new and improved nail art posts in the near future.

Summer Trends: Runway vs. Realway

Spring/Summer 2012 shows happened a few months back and were not the most impressive or striking in my eyes. There weren't very many new and exciting trends compared to last years s/s shows. Most of the trends I found were ultimately carried on from the fall/winter 2011 shows. Nevertheless, I am a big fan of the current summer looks and have compiled a list of my favourites!

White

Such an easy way to feel fresh and stylish when the days are hot and sunny. When pairing whites, it is crucial to look at the shades of both pieces in different light- a more stark and vivid white will not pair well with a more beige toned soft white!

Holt Renfrew Calgary Event

Last week, my family and I visited Calgary for the Stampede and to do some hiking in the Rockies. We stayed at my dad's condo for the visit since he lives there part time for work. We were roaming the streets one day and decided to stop into Holt Renfrew to see if anything was going on. To our surprise, the store was celebrating the Stampede in full swing. They had complementary popcorn and drinks, and a really cute photo booth!
